- Create a Twitter account at www.Twitter.com.
- Set up a profile detailing what you do and what your business is interested in.
- Look for competitors by searching using specific keywords
- Remember – You can connect to competitors!
- Once connected look at who is following your competitors and start following them.
- Similarly look at who your competitors follow – articles, advice etc and start following them
- Start tweeting articles that will interest your followers – either create them yourself or tweet articles relevant to your business.
- Look for trade magazines or news stories of interest.
- Retweet other interesting tweets
- Start a blog with daily or weekly tips to your followers – then tweet the link to the blog
- Understand hash tags – these are the keywords of groups and communities.
- Analyse hash tags at www.wefollow.com and see what hash tags you want to aim for.
- By including a hash tag in your tweet, it will be seen not only by those who follow you, but also by those following the hash tag.
- Tweet regularly – some experts advise on 2 or 3 per day!
- Avoid dodgy people trying to connect – just don’t accept their connect request
- Keep your profile fresh – this is your shop window to your website.
